APPROVED BY MUNICIPAL AND DEPARTMENT AUTHORITIES

INTRODUCTION:
The Plan Del Jicaro community in San Marcos de Colon in the Choluteca Department has come together to analyze the diagnostic carried out to verify and prioritize our problems and we have found that the lack of potable water is seriously affecting the population. During the dry months, we must either ask for water from others or walk to the nearest watershed that is 3.5 kilometers from the community and during the seasonal rains we only have water that is not totally apt for human consumption.
SPECIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM:
For a long period of time we have been aware of the need to request this project, knowing that it will solve a problem that affects the entire community and that is the reason we are submitting this proposal. Our greatest concern is the health of our children, which is endangered by not drinking clean water and causing many diseases, having suffered several deaths due to diarrhea in children as well as adults.
JUSTIFICATION:
The problem we have mentioned directly affects the level of health and household economy. This area is apt for agricultural activities and growing vegetables but because of not having water we cannot think about a productive project to improve the daily diet and to increase our incomes. If this project was approved, we would have better futures with health and more economy for the families.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project consists of the following:
- Acquisition of a watershed to build the water harvest facility to take water to the community
- Correct attention of this issue on behalf of the due authorities
- The project will be sustainable with the support that will be given by the community
- The community will be trained on use and management of the water resource
- The State will allocate a fund for this issue
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
Improve the health conditions of the community members through this water supply project
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
That each community household will have water to improve the health of boys, girls and adults
GOALS:
That 76 houses in the community will have a water system to benefit 407 community members to improve their quality of life through a process of health and hygiene, facing less risk of death because of consuming contaminated water
PROJECT FEASIBILITY:
We consider that the project is feasible because of the following reasons:
- The community is aware of this need
- The local land is fertile and apt for growing vegetables
- Easy to access the markets
- The community is willing to collaborate in any way possible
- There is a watershed just a few kilometers from the community
- The owner of the watershed is willing to negotiate the watershed area
- The poverty reduction strategy contemplates this type of project
RESOURCES:
The following is needed in order to implement this project:
- Due approval
- Construction materials, such as cement, PVC in different diameters, valves, taps or spigots, sand, connectors, and a skilled plumber.
In order to implement this project, the amount of Lps. 250,000.00 is needed, albeit the community will contribute Lps. 50,000.00 in unskilled hand labor, therefore only needing Lps. 200,000.00.
NOTE: We cannot provide a detailed budget because of the sudden price changes due to the high fuel costs.
INTRODUCTION:
The Ojo de Agua community in San Marcos de Colon, Choluteca Department, jointly with the live forces or community grass roots, has carried out a study and made a thorough analysis of all the problems and needs that affect the local population, We have detected and prioritized that the main problem we are facing is the low amount of economic income of the population majority, especially in our community.
SPECIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM:
For a long period of time, the people of the Ojo de Agua community have been seeing that the economic income has been decreasing because of not having the economic resources to carry out our projects.
JUSTIFICATION:
The situation described above directly affects the population because of the low production level resulting in low incomes, thus gradually increasing the level of poverty.
This fosters a high degree of malnutrition and intestinal and respiratory diseases due to not consuming adequate types of food items. In case this project was approved, we consider that the local population will increase their economic incomes and consequently enhance the quality of our lives.

- Assuring / drying the rustic structure (roofed coop)
- 200 layer hens with the purpose of increasing the amount by breeding for a multiplier effect
- Training the participants on management, control and care of the poultry, and basic book keeping for administration purposes
- The group already has legal entity

Train the inhabitants on complete management and care of hens and chicks
Access the market to sell poultry products
TARGET POPULATION:
The project will directly benefit 22 families formed by 140 children and adults.
PROJECT FEASIBILITY:
We consider that the project is feasible due to the following reasons:
- the climate is adequate for breeding poultry

- There is a group of women that have received training for making bread
RESOURCES:
The following is needed to establish the project:
