INTRODUCTION:
The El Trapiche community in San Marcos de Colon in the Choluteca Department, through a diagnostic carried out by the community and its live forces or grass root organizations have prioritized the main problem we are facing after making a thorough analysis. The problem prioritized is the lack of a bridge box to take us to the Pan American Highway and to neighboring communities because of the dangers faced by the population. We are therefore requesting collaboration to build a bridge box.
SPECIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM:
For many years, we, the inhabitants of this community, have had to risk our lives because of having to cross a river that becomes a serious danger during the seasonal rains. As of Hurricane Mitch, the cement passage route was deteriorated and when we have the heavy rains, the following communities become isolated: El Trapiche, Inventario, Agua Agria, El Guacimo, El Guailo, Ojo de Agua and San Isidro del Horno. This is we e notifying the authorities of our need and expecting to obtain a positive response.
JUSTIFICATION:
This situation directly affects the above-mentioned communities because it is the only way of passing to reach them. This becomes a serious problem when having to transfer sick from the Pan-American Highway to the communities. Several vehicles have had accidents when transporting sick persons and when not using a vehicle, we run the risk of being dragged by the strong current. If this project is approved, our communities will improve the life quality, additionally because this is an agriculturally productive area.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project consists of the following:
- Build a bridge box at the highway junction that leads from Comali to El Trapiche and the neighboring communities that have been specified
- The members of all of the mentioned communities are committing to supporting the project in any way within our possibilities
- We are fully aware that this project will be a reality only with the support of the members of all of the interested communities
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
Build a bridge box on the crossing of the Comali River to link the El Trapiche community and neighboring localities.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
Build a bridge box on the Pan-American section to the El Trapiche community and its neighboring communities, with the support of the corresponding authorities and the communities’ live forces
GOALS:
- 2,370 inhabitants will benefit from this project
- The communities’ development will be more efficient
- The economic level of families will improve
- More employment sources will be generated
PROJECT FEASIBILITY:
We consider that this project is feasible due to the following reasons:
- The community has prioritized the project and is willing to support in whatever way possible
- The state has availability of a fund to meet the needs of the country’s inhabitants under the poverty reduction strategy
- This problem has been prioritized because it allows us as the directly benefited population to become more active in our daily work
RESOURCES:
The following is needed in order to implement the project:
- Due approval of the project
- Materials, such as cement, sand, rebar, a skilled construction worker, and transportation
- We consider that an approximate amount of Lps. 90,000.00 will be needed to implement the project
- The community will contribute with Lps. 30,000.00 in unskilled hand labor
- We therefore request the amount of Lps. 60,000,00.
