The work of this population is primarily subsistence agricultural production, small scale farming, craft production (pottery, plastic weaving and its derivatives), and sand and rock removal for small scale commercial use. Their established programs are oriented towards health, communication methods, agricultural production and social audits, for which they anticipates an initial budget of 1 million lempiras, 1.5 % which will come from the state and the rest from tax collection.

La Botija and Guanacaure Mancomunidad (MAMBOCAURE)
This mancomunidad is made up of the municipalities of El Corpus, Concepción de Maria, San Marcos, Namasig?e, Duyure, El Tirunfo, Santa Ana de Yusguare and Apacilagua, all from the department of Choluteca, with a population of 151,563 inhabitants and an area of 1813 square kilometers. Their objective is to promote integral development in these municipalities through institutional and socioeconomic reinforcement.

Their chief economic activities are basic grain production and small-scale cattle farming. These territories are adjacent to Nicaragua. Unfortunately, in this area there has been poor management of natural resources resulting in irregular winters and as a consequence, long dry periods followed by heavy flooding in the rainy season.

This mancomunidad shows similar challenges to the other regions of the country: low agricultural production yields, low prices for the sale of its products because of the presence of middle-men, unemployment, urban migration of the population, delinquency, a high incidence of alcoholism, family violence and limited access to health services. Other NGO’s that are currently collaborating in some of the municipalities in this mancomunidad are: TROKAIRE, PRODEMHON, Action Against Hunger and State Institutions.
